Hello!
There are quite a few activities in November. Please mark your calendars.
The Yamanashi Food Bank collection has begun! We will continue to accept food donations through Friday morning, November 17.
Christmas Market is coming! Please bring gently used or new, unwanted items to the 2nd-floor room across from the junior high. (If you don’t know where to put it, bring it to my office.) The market will be on December 19th and 20th in the gym. All proceeds will go toward a high school building.
School pictures are here! Please come to the front desk if you want to order a set. The picture samples will be on the front desk until November 22. We will receive the photos by Friday, December 15, which gives us plenty of time to put the pictures in frames for Christmas gifts.
We have several in the school that have influenza. Please take precautions and stay well!
Friday, November 17, is the report card day for grades K-6. Please check your email for your child’s grade report.
Monday, November 20, and Thursday, November 23, is off for national holidays.
Wednesday, November 22, is NLIS’s Sport’s Day at Midorigaoka. Please have your child wear comfortable clothes and shoes. Uniforms are not required, but badges or school T-shirts are necessary. The classes will walk there. It’s about 2 kilometers from the school. You will receive permission slips with more information soon.
Friday, November 24, is the Student-led Parent Teacher Meetings. You will receive a schedule from your child’s teacher with the time to come with your child. There are no classes on this day.
Special days in December include the following:
Christmas Program on Thursday, December 14, from 2:00 to 3:00
Christmas Market on Tuesday and Wednesday, December 19 and 20
Thursday, December 21, is a half day, with Christmas parties in all classrooms. More information about that will follow later. School is closed for Christmas and New Year’s holidays until January 9.
10. All teachers are working extremely hard on a school report for accreditation with WASC, the Western Association of Schools and Colleges. We will ask several of you to review part of the school report. We hope to have a visit from WASC next winter for full accreditation in all grades. Thank you for your support and encouragement.
Warmly,
Suzy Brown
