Dear Parents of 3rd through 8th grade students:
Joy Bible Camp is back! This is a wonderful opportunity for students from grades 3 through 8 to go to Okutama Bible Chalet in Tokyo in June for loads of activities, including crafts, swimming, hiking, special speakers for evening chapel and singing, games, eating great meals together, and more all in English. There are three camps for children in grades 1 through 8.
Camp 1 is for grades 1 through 3. It will be held June 19-21, Wednesday through Friday, for two nights and three days. The cost for all meals, the cabin, and a T-shirt is ¥16,000.
Camp 2 is for Grades 4 to 6. It will be held June 21-24, Friday through Monday, for three nights and four days. The cost for all meals, the cabin, and a T-shirt is ¥21,000.
Camp 3 is for grades 7 and 8 (6th graders can attend this one). It will be held from June 25 to 29, Tuesday through Saturday, for three nights and four days. The cost for all meals, the cabin, and a T-shirt is ¥26,000.
Parents must provide transportation to and from the place. In the past, the students usually went together by train, or parents would take turns taking them by car and picking them up. The teachers will help the students keep up with the school work missed, and teachers will excuse some schoolwork. Students will not be required to do homework during camp days.
The camp is entirely in English, and many international students from all over Japan attend. I hope many children can attend. Rest assured, they have stringent safety measures in place to ensure your child's well-being throughout the camp. It's a favorite childhood memory of my boys, and many students from NLIS have gone and loved it, too.
Parents must register online. This needs to be done quickly. The places are filling up, and registration will close. After you register, a packet with all the information will be mailed to your home. It takes about a week.
Please see the poster attached. You can scan the QR code to get the online registration form.
If you have any questions, please see me.
Happy camping!
Suzy Brown
