Happy New Year! I hope everyone is having a great holiday. Please read to see what we have planned for January. We will be busy learning and growing.
Student Tests and Newsletters: The students have several standardized testing days and chapter, unit, and weekly tests in January and February. Grades 1 – 8 will take the last reading and math standardized test from January 20 to 22. Please have your children sleep well the nights before the tests and eat a good breakfast the day of the tests. It helps the students focus and optimizes their results. Every class regularly has weekly quizzes, tests, and chapter and unit tests. Please check the class newsletters for the test days so you can help your child by ensuring he or she studies, rests, and eats a good breakfast. Please note that many students do not remember to show their parents. Please get the letters from your children. They usually go home every Friday.
On another note, one parent asked for the monthly events calendar on paper, so I have started putting new newsletters with the events and updates in the front entrance in a basket. Please help yourself. There is also an annual calendar on the website.
1st & 2nd Graders' Field trip: Friday, January 31, 1st & 2nd graders will walk to the police headquarters for a fun learning experience. Then, they will walk to the castle to eat outside and play. We invite all the parents to join us for these fun dates. Please inform your child's teacher that you are coming so we can inform the police headquarters. Your child's teacher will send you more information about this trip soon.
Science Fair, February 7: All students from grades four through twelve have a science fair project they must work on this winter. Please remind them. This year's Science Fair is on February 7, and we love parents to watch their children present. We are honored to have the following judges this year: Carolyn Kubota, Annie Chen, and Rhonda Tezuka.
Student Presentation Times are:
9:00-10:00 Elementary 4th-6th
10:20-11:10 Secondary 7th-12th
1:00-1:15 Assembly time to announce the winners, give the certificates, and take pictures.
Below are the rest of the year’s planned events. The February newsletter will give more details about the events in February and March and the WASC visit.
I wish every family health and happiness in the year 2025.
Kind regards,
Suzy Brown
