Merry Christmas!
Thank you for coming to the student-led parent-teacher meetings on Friday. Your children are working hard and advancing well. I hope you are proud of their achievements; we are!
Thank you, also, for the food donations. The Yamanashi Food Bank is an essential outreach for our school, and many people will have food to eat because of your generosity.
Christmas Market donations are welcome until December 15. NLIS is closing the kindergarten this year, so there are a lot of toys, books, and an old piano to sell.
Friday, December 1
Library, Schoolwide Assembly
Parents' Bible study at 2:00. All parents are welcome to come to my office and enjoy an hour of English Bible study.
Tuesday, December 12 Teachers’ WASC meeting
The school will be closed at 3:30. There is no afterschool care after 3:30 on this day.
Note: We are on schedule with our school report for WASC. It is a long report of over 100 pages. We aim to finish by November 2024, be visited, and be approved by WASC for accreditation in all classes, grades 1 through 12, by the winter of 2024-25.
Thursday, December 14
Christmas Program 2:00-3:15 NLIS invites all parents and grandparents to watch their children sing, play instruments, read original poems, and do a drama. When the parking lots are full, cars may squeeze in, but remember to leave first.
Friday, December 15
Library
Parents' Bible study
December 19 & 20, Tuesday and Wednesday. We invite parents to come and shop from 8:30 to 9:30 and again from 2:20 to 3:30 on both days. Classes will take turns shopping on both days. The student council is in charge of all of this. It’s a wonderful opportunity for them to learn how to exchange money and to greet and help customers.
Thursday, December 21, is a half-day and our last day before the holidays. We will have class parties to celebrate. Each child should bring one wrapped gift by Monday, December 18. It should be between 400 to 500 yen. If your child is a girl, she should get a girl's gift. If your child is a boy, he should bring a boy's gift. Please mark your child's name on the gift. The students will play a fun game with the gifts.
No lunch or snacks on this day. The parent volunteers will provide snacks during the party.
Classes are over at noon. The holidays are from this day through January 8.
January 9: First day back, and it's a full day. School will be open from 8:40 to 3:30.
